A Taste for Safety: The Compton Police Department is playing chicken this holiday season with a little help from Irvine-based El Pollo Loco.
“Good drivers usually do not get rewards for their safe driving,” Police Chief Hourie L. Taylor said. “The public’s perception of being stopped by the police is usually negative, with the receipt of a traffic citation as the result.”
During December, however, Compton police officers also stopped safe drivers and rewarded them with gift certificates redeemable at El Pollo Loco restaurants. The reward program ran through Christmas Day.
