Tim Stowers, football coach at Georgia Southern, does not want to be considered for the same position at Alabama Birmingham.

Stowers is the third candidate to withdraw his name from consideration, joining Bobby Wallace, coach of two-time Division II national champion North Alabama, and Alabama assistant Woody McCorvey.

Alabama Birmingham is looking for a coach to lead the program from I-AA into I-A starting in 1996. Jim Hilyer, the coach since the program started as a club team in 1989, resigned after this season.
