Martial Arts: Local Students Score High
Students from a local martial arts school scored among the highest in the finals of a recent championship competition.
Nine students representing Marina Tae Kwon Do martial arts school brought home 12 gold medals, four silvers and one bronze from last month’s Red Scorpion Invitational tournament in Long Beach. The students competed in a field of more than 200.
Tae kwon do is the only martial art featured in the Olympics. Keith Jones, chief instructor, said many of his students plan to compete in the Olympic Trials in Texas in April and in Los Angeles on July 5.
