BURBANK : Murder Charge Filed in Slaying of Guard

Share

A 22-year-old Pacoima man has been charged with murder in the shooting of an unarmed security guard at a Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus restaurant in Burbank last May.

Though Jose Ignacio Molina was named as one of two suspects in the case just days after the shooting of Walter Thomas III, there was not enough evidence to file charges against him until this week, said Burbank Police Lt. Larry Koch.

The other suspect, Abraham Alvarado, was released and has not been charged in the shooting, he added.

During an arraignment in Burbank Municipal Court on Wednesday, Molina pleaded not guilty. He is in custody at the Men’s Central Jail, with bail set at $1.2 million.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 15 in Burbank Municipal Court.
