RANCHO PALOS VERDES : Loser in House Race Files Official Voter Fraud Claim

Share

Citing alleged widespread voting irregularities, Rancho Palos Verdes Councilwoman Susan Brooks filed an official protest Friday with the House Oversight Committee in Washington over her narrow defeat by second-term Rep. Jane Harman (D-Rolling Hills).

Brooks said an independent voter fraud task force had found “massive . . . errors, as well as illegal and fraudulent votes,” and called on the House to call a special election “to determine the real choice among the district’s qualified voters.”

Brooks said Friday that she had sent the protest Thursday by overnight delivery service, but spokesmen for the House Oversight Committee and the House clerk’s office could not confirm its arrival.

A Harman spokesman dismissed Brooks’ challenge as unfounded.

“Susan Brooks has completely lost her grip on reality,” Roy Behr said.

On election night, Brooks held a 93-vote edge, but Harman eventually took the seat after absentee ballots put her 812 votes ahead.
