MISSING IN ACTION: Julian Lennon made a big impact a decade ago with his debut album “Valotte,” but his pop fame faded over the course of three more albums, and he hasn’t been heard from since 1991’s “Help Yourself.”

Now, though, the 31-year-old son and sometimes sound-alike of the late John Lennon is writing songs for a return to recording, with tentative plans to start on a new album for Atlantic Records in the spring.

Lennon’s also set to make his major movie debut, having just shot a cameo appearance in “Leaving Las Vegas,” a comedy starring Nicolas Cage and Elisabeth Shue that will be released in the spring. Lennon’s role: a bartender in a biker hangout.

As for what he’s been doing for the past three or so years? Apparently nothing much. Or, in the words of one associate, “having a life.”
