Two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer after a high-speed chase through a residential area, authorities said.

The arrests came after the driver of a stolen 1990 Honda Accord repeatedly tried to ram a police cruiser, said Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Rodig.

An officer opened fire on a teen-ager in the back seat who “made movements that caused the officer to be in fear for his life,” Rodig said.

No one was hurt. When the chase ended, Police arrested two youths, ages 16 and 17, and were still searching Saturday for a third person who fled.

The chase began shortly after 5 p.m. Friday when officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Buena Park. They pursued the Honda, which sped off on Lincoln Avenue.

During the chase, the driver of the stolen car swung the vehicle around and attempted to ram the patrol car, forcing officers to take evasive action, Rodig said. Officers stopped the car on Vine Street.

Both juveniles were being held Saturday at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer, auto theft, possession of stolen property and evading arrest.
