BRIEFLY : Quake: Governor Pays Tribute to Nurse, Officer
In his State of the State address last week, Gov. Pete Wilson honored a Westside nurse for her efforts to help people injured during the Northridge earthquake.
Wilson praised Mary Morner of St. John’s Medical Center and Los Angeles Police Officer Henry Izzo, who was recognized for helping victims in the Northridge Meadows apartment complex after the quake.
“When the quake first hit, Nurse Mary Morner rushed to St. John’s Medical Center,” Wilson said in his Jan. 9 address. “With great initiative and under hellish conditions, she set up an emergency triage center on a street corner outside the hospital.”
