Company Town : Ex-Philip Morris Chief Joins Board of Time Warner

Michael A. Miles, who abruptly quit as head of tobacco giant Philip Morris last June, was named to Time Warner’s board, filling the seat formerly held by the late Hugh Culverhouse.

Miles left Philip Morris amid criticism by tobacco supporters that he was unresponsive to attacks on the industry by critics of smoking. Culverhouse, who died in August, was the owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers professional football team.

* Fox Broadcasting named Joe Muller executive director of network distribution for its Southwest region.

* Former Disney animator Maurice Noble joined Turner Pictures as part of its feature-animation creative team.

* Geffen Records confirmed that senior artists and repertoire executive Tom Zutaut is departing after 10 years with the label. Zutaut, best known for his work with the band Guns N’ Roses, said in a statement that he is leaving to “fulfill my dreams.”

* The Clein & White entertainment publicity firm has hired Stephen Kenneally and Paola Freccero and has promoted Michele Robertson to account executive.

* Terron Schaefer was named senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Studio Stores.

* Carol Rabushka was promoted to vice president of marketing at Secret Identitee, an entertainment industry merchandising firm.

* Bryan L. Knapp was named senior vice president of human resources and administration for MTV Networks. MTV also named Karl Kuechenmeister senior vice president at One World Entertainment.
