LOS ANGELES : Food Bank Near Closing After Series of Break-Ins
Operators of a food bank burglarized three times over the holidays appealed for help Thursday to keep it from closing.
“They stole food, children’s toys, our four computers, our typewriters, all our office supplies. . . . We were wiped out,” said Sonia Vidal, executive director of the Seedling, at 6314 S. Broadway. “It was horrible.”
Vidal said the 12-year-old food bank provides food to more than 1,000 families a month.
But the facility may have to close, she said, because of the loss of its computers, worth about $2,000 each, and the other office supplies.
Anyone wishing to help should contact the food bank at (213) 753-1524.
