For a studio that has been struggling to make movies, not to mention score hits, Sony Pictures Entertainment had welcome news again this weekend as two of its films headed the Top 10.

Fueled by the star power of actor Brad Pitt, TriStar Pictures’ “Legends of the Fall” brought in $9 million at the box office for a five-week total of $26.7 million.

Meanwhile, Columbia Pictures’ “Higher Learning” brought in $6.1 million, seeing its total increase to about $25 million in its second week of release. The John Singleton film centers on a semester in the life of an ethnically diverse group of college students.
