THE REGION : 70 Youths Invited to Lakers, Clippers Game
More than 70 youths from the San Gabriel Valley are expected to take part in the second annual professional basketball outing Feb. 4 sponsored by Give the Streets Back, a Pasadena-based nonprofit youth organization.
The event begins at 3:45 p.m. with lectures by clergy and other speakers on the life of 1960s slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers. A National Basketball Assn. game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers follows at 7:30 p.m. All events are scheduled at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, 3939 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.
The nonprofit organization is seeking sponsors to help buy food for 300 youths expected to attend the event and for their game tickets at $14 each.
