Memorial services will be held Saturday for Roger M. Seitz, senior vice president of urban planning and design for the Irvine Co., who died Tuesday evening at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian of complications of pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

Seitz was instrumental in the conceptual and physical planning of all projects on the company’s 57,000 acres of property.

He led the renovation and expansion work on the Fashion Island Newport Beach shopping mall; Newport Center, a mixed-use development in Newport Beach that includes retail, office and residential space; Newport Coast, a residential and golf course community, and the Irvine Spectrum office park.

“Roger was a remarkable and talented man who will be missed by everyone who knew him,” said Keith Greer, president of Irvine Community Builders, who worked with Seitz for 10 years. “His intelligence, style and flair will be remembered for years to come in every project he planned and designed, from Fashion Island to the Newport Coast.”

Seitz was a resident of Corona del Mar. He is survived by his wife, Jan; a son, Stephen, of Chicago, and a daughter, Rochelle, of Virginia.

Saturday’s memorial services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Roger M. Seitz Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Sharon Diffley, the Irvine Co., 550 Newport Center Drive, Suite 800, Newport Beach, CA 92660.
