New classrooms will be added at nine schools in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District this summer in anticipation of higher enrollment for the next school year.

Projected enrollment figures at Glenknoll, John O. Tynes, Rio Vista, Van Buren and Glenview elementary schools, Bernardo Yorba and Yorba Linda middle schools and El Dorado and Esperanza high schools show there will not be enough room.

Overall, district officials expect to add 572 students at its 26 regular campuses. The schools with the most significant projected growth are Rio Vista Elementary School in Anaheim, which district officials say should increase from 1,260 to 1,358; El Dorado High School in Placentia, which is expected to have 1,820, up from 1713, and Esperanza High School in Anaheim, which is projected to have an additional 141 students, bringing its enrollment to 2,703.
