Chung, Gingrich

Share

I am not a fan of Connie Chung because I almost never watch TV news. But I wonder how come so much ink has been spilled on the Gingrich glitch, while refusing to touch the actual words “she’s a bitch” with a 10-foot pole (“Chung, CBS and a Whispering Mom,” Saturday Letters, Jan. 14; “CBS Defends Airing Chung Interview Despite Criticism,” Jan. 6).

I realize that it is old-fashioned to expect polite treatment of the presidency, but this little episode of fall-down comedy is too shamefully symptomatic of the viciousness and contempt with which the presidency has been viewed. And don’t forget the trickle-down effect to “average” citizens. Courtesy, anyone?
