VANCOUVER — Film director Phillip Borsos, whose work included the critically acclaimed and much honored 1982 movie “The Grey Fox” and the just-released “Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog,” has died of leukemia, Vancouver Hospital said.
Borsos, 41, died Thursday after a nine-month battle with the disease, a hospital spokeswoman said.
His film credits included the Oscar-nominated documentary “Nails” and “Bethune: The Making of a Hero,” about a controversial Montreal doctor.
“The Grey Fox” starred Richard Farnsworth as a gentlemanly train robber just released from prison. It swept the Genie awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Oscars.
“Far From Home,” a story of a boy and his dog, opened a few weeks ago.
