GETTING PINNED: O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark told the court that the gold angel pin she wore this week symbolized sympathy for Nicole Brown Simpson’s family. . . . There’s even more symbolism in the pin, called a Tara’s Angel and worn by Brown family members. It came from the Tara’s Angels shop in San Juan Capistrano. Tara, 15-year-old daughter of Kirk and Sandy Moore, was killed in a traffic accident in 1992. Her parents opened the shop to honor her love for angels. . . . Says Kirk Moore: “The Brown family requested many of our pins. They represent hope and inspiration.”

G’DAY, LOVE: Australian TV’s “Today Show” will interview Stefanie Meurer of Irvine on Valentine’s Day. It’s a show about love and singles (OC Live!). Meurer, an Australian, is connecting American and Australian singles on a September trip up the Australian coast. . . . “Australian women have always been fascinated with American men,” she says. “Maybe because we watched so much American TV.” A bonus for her venture, she adds: Men here seem fascinated by Australian women.

MARINE DAY: It was 52 years ago this month that Toba Wheeler, now of Irvine, became the first woman in the Los Angeles area to join the Marines. She rose to the rank of platoon sergeant during World War II. She’s helping organize a celebration Saturday of the 52nd anniversary of the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve at Revere House in Santa Ana. Wheeler says she joined because “my brother was a Marine; he was overseas and we didn’t know if he was dead or alive.” He made it safely.

COPY CATS: Toshiba Co. heard that Reilly Elementary School in Mission Viejo, because of the bond crisis, couldn’t replace an ailing copy machine. Not only will Toshiba donate one--worth $18,000--it’s challenging other companies to help out schools hit hard financially because of the bond woes. . . . Says Tod Pulsifer of Toshiba: “It’s too important to let our children suffer.”
