NHL ROUNDUP : Bellows’ Binge Propels Canadiens

Brian Bellows continued his scoring binge with two goals as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators, 4-2, Wednesday night at Ottawa.

The veteran left winger, scoreless through Montreal’s first six games, has five goals in his last three starts.

Kirk Muller and Brian Fogarty also scored as Montreal recorded its first road victory of the season.

Alexandre Daigle had both goals for Ottawa.

Senator goalie Don Beaupre, coming off a 34-save shutout against Philadelphia, was impressive despite giving up four goals on 31 shots.

N.Y. Rangers 5, Washington 4--The Rangers won a battle of special teams as Brian Leetch scored a power-play goal with 4:19 left to beat the Capitals at New York.

Winnipeg 3, Edmonton 3--Teemu Selanne had two goals, including a score with 2:08 left in regulation, to give the Jets a 3-3 tie with the Oilers at Edmonton.

Igor Korolev also scored for the Jets. Scoring for Edmonton were David Oliver, Jason Arnott and Todd Marchant.

Quebec 3, Hartford 2--Mike Ricci and Valeri Kamensky broke two ties with third-period goals in the Nordiques’ victory at Hartford.

Toronto 3, Dallas 3--Mats Sundin flipped the puck over sprawling goalie Andy Moog with 1.6 seconds left in regulation as the Maple Leafs salvaged a tie at Toronto.

With goaltender Felix Potvin on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, the Maple Leafs blitzed the Dallas crease.
