SANTA MONICA : State Upgrades College’s Financial Rating

State community college officials have upgraded Santa Monica College’s financial rating three months after placing the school’s budget under special scrutiny.

The Santa Monica Community College District has been given Priority 3 status, which means state officials will work with the district to avoid future problems. The school was placed in the more serious Priority 2 status in November after its budget reserves dwindled to $130,000, down from $3 million in 1991.
