Four young men died and two others were injured in a single-car crash Saturday in the Fairfax district, police said.

The accident occurred about 2:10 a.m. Saturday when the driver, who was westbound on Wilshire Boulevard at Fairfax Avenue, lost control of the car, said Lt. Chris West of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Bureau. The car struck the center divider, crossed it and slammed into a group of palm trees, West said. Three of the six men were ejected from the car on impact.

Two of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene and two died at area hospitals, police said. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Saturday, West said. Another passenger was treated and released.
