Don't Leave Home Without Discounts

A brochure, called "Local Time," provides an illustrated guide for tourists seeking information on lodging, car rentals, airlines, retail stores and tourist attractions in the Bay Area.

It also comes with a book of "Local Time Visitor Checques," which are discount vouchers for hotels, restaurants, retail stores, transportation and area attractions.

The discounts are valid only to American Express card members. Call (800) 738-6329.

Most foreign countries have not adopted the idea of offering discounts to senior travelers. But the Hong Kong Tourist Assn. is pursuing seniors with its "Guide for Travelers Over 60."

The free booklet contains the names of participating business--hotels, cultural attractions, performing arts, tennis, golf and horse racing. Discounts are also offered in many restaurants, stores, buses and railways.

The brochure also tells how to obtain the 60 Plus Privilege Card. Call (310) 208-4582.

Senior visitors to the Los Angeles area may want to try the Park Plaza hotel, a historical building that has been used in movies, TV shows, music videos and commercials. Travelers over 50 receive a 15% discount off regular rates, which run from $55-$70.

Guests may use the indoor heated pool, fitness center, plus steam and sauna rooms. Parking and continental breakfast are included. The Park Plaza is located at 607 S. Park View St., one mile from Downtown. Call (213) 384-5281.
