Rohr Industries Agrees to Get Data Services From Santa Ana Firm

Software Maintenance Specialists said Tuesday that it has signed a five-year, $12-million contract with Rohr Industries Inc. to manage information processing at Rohr’s Chula Vista headquarters.

SMS will support data services for mainframe computers at the site, where Rohr manufactures commercial and military aircraft components.

About 25 Rohr employees will be affected by the agreement, the companies said. About 14 will be absorbed by SMS at their current salaries, and seven others will be reassigned to other Rohr divisions, said Patrick Dolan, chief operating officer of SMS. The remainder have chosen to leave, he said.

Privately held SMS has similar data processing agreements with Allergan Inc., Rockwell Space Systems Division and TRW Business Credit Services. The company had revenue of about $30 million in 1994 and says it is profitable.
