SIMI VALLEY : Work Resumes on Cultural Arts Center
- Share via
Work resumed this week on the half-finished Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, city officials said.
Renovation of the facility stopped late last year after the original contractor was fired.
A new contractor, Hayward Construction Co. of Monrovia, was selected to complete the work, Deputy City Manager Bob Heitzman said.
Tricon Contractors of Van Nuys was fired in December after some work had to be redone and subcontractors complained that their payments were overdue.
The bonding firm on the project, Vigilant Insurance Co. of New Jersey, solicited the bids and wrote up the contract for the work.
The City Council voted to accept Hayward Construction’s bid at its Feb. 6 meeting.
The work is expected to take about four months and cost about $2.2 million, Heitzman said.
