Golden West College’s weekly “Spring Senior Film Festival,” designed for ages 60 and older, begins Tuesday with “Harvey” (1950), a comedy starring James Stewart as a lovable kook whose best friend is an imaginary rabbit the size of an NBA center.

The series continues March 7 with “Show Boat” (1951), an adaptation of the Broadway play about life on the Mississippi. It stars Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson and Ava Gardner.

Up next, on March 14, is “Witness for the Prosecution” (1957). Based on Agatha Christie’s story, it features Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power.

“Sergeant York” (1941) is set for March 21. Gary Cooper stars as a pacifist who fights reluctantly in World War I and becomes a hero.

Another musical, “Gold Diggers of 1933” (1933), will be shown March 28. A Busby Berkeley extravaganza, it features Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell in a tale about putting on a Broadway show.

The series ends April 4 with “Friendly Persuasion” (1956). Gary Cooper stars in this story of a Quaker family and its struggles during the Civil War.

The movies will be shown in the Forum II theater, 15744 Golden West St., Huntington Beach, at 3 p.m. A Gold Key Card, available from the school for $3, will be good for admission to any and all the screenings. Information: (714) 891-3991.
