Michael Walker’s article “So, You Wanna Be a Mogul?” (Feb. 19) should be retitled “So, You Want a Job in Hollywood: The Art of Baby-Sitting.” This repugnant article is so positive, it needs a reality check.

As an educated assistant, I have seen the most ignorant and repulsive acts of infantile behavior from these overpaid bozos we call producers and directors. It is true that an assistant is disgustingly underpaid and grossly overworked. But it’s also true that an assistant is undeniably the victim of injustice. The pay scale of everyone’s job has increased while an assistant’s has stagnated. Incredible amounts of responsibility are placed in our hands, yet we inevitably feel the fallout of anything that happens on the set.
