Past MGM / UA Marketing Head Forms Ad Agency

Hollywood Creative Team Inc., a new advertising agency aimed at motion picture and entertainment industry clients, is being formed by Greg Morrison, former head of marketing for MGM/UA. The new company plans to bring together independent graphic designers, copywriters and photographers to provide print and production materials at reasonable cost, said Morrison, a 32-year film industry veteran. Hollywood Creative, with Morrison as president, will be an independent subsidiary of J.P. Advertising. The new company will initially be housed in Burbank and use J.P. Advertising’s production facilities.

Saybrook Capital Corp., a Los Angeles-based investment banking firm, announced the appointment of Robert M. Deutschman as a managing director and Scott A. Bayliss to vice president. Both Deutschman and Bayliss will focus on Saybrook’s growing municipal debt workout and restructuring practice. Before joining Saybrook, Deutschman and Bayliss were with the firm of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, where they were instrumental in the formation of the public finance group, restructuring numerous defaulted municipal revenue bonds.

Derek Thomas has been named executive vice president and chief investment officer of Newland Capital Advisors in San Diego. Before joining Newland, Thomas was partner in charge of real estate consulting services in the San Diego office of Kenneth Leventhal & Co. Newland Capital Advisors provides equity and debt financing to residential land developers and real estate investment advisory services to pension funds and other institutional investors.
