An air bag in the second car was released when the vehicle crashed into Weins’ car. According to LAPD Sgt. Rod Grahek, the air bag probably helped save the driver from severe injury or death.

According to preliminary police reports, Weins’ was traveling west on Devonshire about 2 p.m. and failed to stop for a red light. As she traveled through the intersection, the driver of a vehicle heading north on Wilbur was also entering the intersection and plowed into the driver’s side of her car.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the scene to free one of the victims who reportedly was trapped inside a vehicle.
