LAGUNA BEACH : Two-Vehicle Crash on Laguna Canyon Road Injures Both Drivers
Two people were injured Wednesday when their vehicles collided on Laguna Canyon Road, authorities said.
Traffic on the popular roadway was backed up for about an hour after the accident.
The accident occurred at 8:05 a.m. when 40-year-old Christopher Earl Carter of Dana Point lost control of his Jeep, struck the curb and veered into an oncoming car driven by Alexandra Guerrero, 48, of Laguna Beach, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Bruce Lian.
Carter and Guerrero were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where they were treated for cuts, bruises and possible internal injuries, Lian said.
A hospital spokeswoman said Carter was listed in serious condition Wednesday night. Guerrero was listed in fair condition.
Carter was driving south on a curved section of Laguna Canyon Road near Laguna Lakes when he lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason before hitting the curb, Lian said. Carter’s vehicle crossed the center of the road after he tried to regain control and overcorrected, the officer added.
Carter and Guerrero were both driving within the posted 55 m.p.h. speed limit, Lian said.
