Young vocalists have an extra week--until March 24--to enter Los Angeles' 47th annual Artists of the Future voice competition.
The contest is open to classical and semiclassical singers between the ages of 16 and 23. And contestants must be residents of the city of Los Angeles or students within the city boundaries.
Contestants must perform two arias or art songs at each audition. At least one of the songs must be in English and no popular tunes can be included.
Preliminary auditions will be held April 8 and 15. Semifinals will be held April 29. The final competition is scheduled for May 13.
The winner of the competition will receive a $2,000 cash scholarship. The second- and third-place finishers will receive $1,500 and $1,000 respectively.
The competition will be held at Gallery Theater in Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd.
