A free mediation service for resolving business and personal disputes is being offered to members of the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and their families.

The service is being offered to help disputing parties “develop a mutually acceptable agreement while promoting communication, cooperation and the preservation of the relationship,” the chamber said in announcing the program. The chamber describes mediation as “a process for anyone who wishes to avoid the trauma and expense of adversarial proceedings while maintaining complete confidentiality.”

Mario Metzger, a professional mediator, will work with disputing parties to settle problems in such fields as partnerships, contracts, employment, consumer-merchant disputes and real estate.

Metzger will conduct one-hour consultations at the chamber’s offices in Thousand Oaks. The sessions, which started this month, will be offered Thursdays starting at 9 a.m.

In addition to business problems, mediation will be offered in connection with neighbor disputes, marital dissolutions and other personal matters.

The Conejo Valley chamber covers Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and nearby communities.
