First Steve Larmer reached a milestone. Then he won the game.

Larmer recorded the 1,000th point of his NHL career with a game-tying assist on Brian Noonan’s goal at 4:50 of the third period and then scored the tie-breaking goal with 1:14 to play as the Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils, 6-4, in New York.

Larmer, who recorded three assists, became the 43rd player to reach 1,000 points, done so quietly that he didn’t bother to mention it to the referee. The same puck was used for the ensuing faceoff. After an announcement over the loudspeaker system at Madison Square Garden about Larmer’s feat, the game was stopped to give him the puck.

Toronto 3, Dallas 2--The Maple Leafs scored on their first and third shots, took a 3-0 lead at Toronto and then had to hang on to win after Dallas’ Peter Zezel and Dave Gagner scored goals in the first 64 seconds of the final period.

NHL Notes
