VENTURA : Rain Forecast Delays Irish Parade, Festival
Ventura’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed because of a forecast of heavy rains through the weekend, officials said Thursday.
The County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Irish Festival, originally set for this Saturday, have been rescheduled for March 18, organizers said.
The parade, which attracts residents from throughout the region, is scheduled to begin on its new date at 10 a.m. at the Mission Plaza Park, across from the San Buenaventura Mission in Ventura. Participants will march south on Main Street to the corner of Ash Street.
After the parade, organizers will hold the Irish Festival from 11:30 to sunset.
The festival will feature traditional Irish dancing, arts and crafts, music and food. This year marks the first time the festival is being held as part of the event, organizers said.
