Drunk Driving Suspect Injures Parked Officer
A police officer was injured when a man suspected of drunk driving struck her parked vehicle from behind, authorities said.
Officer Maggie Faust was writing a police report in her vehicle on Carmenita Road at the Artesia Freeway when a car driven by James Robert Johnson, 63, of Norwalk collided with her car about 11:20 p.m. Friday, Police Sgt. Ed Ethell said.
Faust suffered injuries to her head and neck and was treated at La Palma Hospital and released, Ethell said.
Johnson, who was not injured, was arrested by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of drunk driving and booked into their Lakewood jail, a La Palma Police Department spokesman said.
