Police on Sunday were investigating the unrelated fatal shootings of a 17-year-old boy in Anaheim and a female service station employee in Seal Beach.

The youth, whose name was being withheld until his family is notified, was killed early Sunday in what police say may have been a gang-related slaying.

He was shot in the chest while walking through an alley in the 400 block of Kroeger Street in Anaheim, police said.

He was taken to Western Medical Center-Anaheim by friends at 5 a.m., according to police, who did not indicate whether the friends were with him at the time of the shooting.

It was unclear whether he had died before reaching the hospital, but he was dead by the time officers arrived about 5:05 a.m., police said.

The case is being investigated by the homicide and gang units of the Anaheim Police Department.

In the Seal Beach shooting, officers were called to the Arco Smog Pros station in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway at 4:50 a.m. Sunday when a delivery person was unable to locate the attendant there, authorities said.

Officers found the woman in an upstairs office, dead of a gunshot wound.

Police did not indicate whether robbery was the motive and did not release the victim’s name.
