ANAHEIM : Stadium Parking Fee Increase on the Council Docket

The City Council tonight will consider raising parking fees by $1 for most events at Anaheim Stadium.

Under the proposal, fees for California Angels baseball games would go up from $5 to $6, while rates for football, concerts and motor sports events would rise from $6 to $7.

If approved, the fee hike would generate net revenues of $348,000 for the 1995-96 budget.

City officials say the higher fees are needed to offset increased operating and maintenance costs.

Also, the council will vote whether to pay for a study examining the economic benefits of having the California Angels play in Anaheim.

The city will consider releasing up to $23,000 from the stadium’s reserve fund to pay for the study.

The city will use the study in its negotiations with the California Angels, whose lease expires in 2001.
