Smith Micro Acquires Phone Technology: Smith Micro Software Inc. said Tuesday it has acquired the technology to process and store telephone messages through computers from Dove Computers, which declared bankruptcy in 1992.

The new voice technology will allow Smith products to store messages, screen calls and enable users to retrieve messages from locations that are not connected to a local network.

Smith Micro said it will incorporate the voice technology into a software package it sells to makers of computer modems--devices that allow computers to communicate over telephone lines. A product set to include the technology will be sold at retail stores nationally for $99.95, the company said.
