SAN CLEMENTE : Applications Welcome for Bilingual Program
Applications are being accepted for a nationally recognized program at Las Palmas Elementary School that aims to make students bilingual by the fifth grade.
There are 30 openings for English-speaking kindergarten students and 30 openings for Spanish-speaking kindergartners for the 1995-96 school year.
This fall will mark the third year for the Two-Way Language Immersion Program at the school.
In the early grades, students are taught in Spanish for 90% of the day. As the students approach the fifth grade, classes are taught in English 50% of the time and in Spanish 50% of the time.
