Sheriff’s Deputies Discover Foster Park Drug Lab

Share

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies serving an eviction notice at a house in a Foster Park neighborhood stumbled upon a methamphetamine lab Wednesday evening, authorities said.

No one was home and no arrests were made at the house in the 7700 block of Santa Ana Road in an unincorporated area north of Ventura. Personnel from the California Highway Patrol and the Ventura County Fire Department were also called to the scene. The Fire Department’s hazardous materials team assisted with removal of the materials found at the address.

“Those labs use a lot of chemicals,” Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Gullon said. “You have to be very careful.”

Officials arrived at the house shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday and spent two hours clearing the location, fire officials said.

Neighbors described the home as well-kept and unassuming.

“You never see the people who live there,” neighbor Ken O’Reilly said, adding that the home is on a sunken lot and secluded from the road.
