Northrop-Grumman Wins 2 Air Force Contracts: The Century City-based aerospace company said the contracts are worth a combined $313.6 million. The larger of the two, worth $172.7 million, went to the company’s military aircraft division in Hawthorne. It is for replacement parts for the F-5 fighter jet. Although the Air Force no longer relies on that plane, which Northrop made from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, air forces in many other countries are still using F-5s. Parts purchased by the Air Force under this award will be sent to 25 countries using F-5s. Northrop-Grumman also received $140.9 million for 60 electronic countermeasures systems used by F-15 fighter jets. The company’s Electronic Systems Integration division, based in Rolling Meadows, Ill., has until March, 1999, to complete the systems.
