LA CONCHITA : Order to Boil Water Will Likely Be Lifted

Share

An order forcing La Conchita-area residents to boil their water is expected to be lifted today. But residents are still being asked to conserve water.

Officials with the Casitas Municipal Water District said they expect to find the water safe to drink by early this morning and will notify residents by hand-delivering a letter to them by 8 a.m.

About 650 of the district’s customers who live north of the Ventura River were left with tainted water when the main pipeline serving the Rincon area broke during last week’s storms.

Residents were told to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking and bathing.

Because a second pipeline in the area was also damaged, water will still be in short supply and residents should continue to limit water use, said the district’s Dick Barnett. “We are asking people to conserve water in any way possible.”

Barnett said that it will take at least 30 days for the water district to permanently fix the pipelines and make sure that neither is in danger of breaking again.
