HUNTINGTON BEACH : Bolsa Chica Project Approval Irks Council

The Orange County Planning Commission on Wednesday approved the development agreement for the 3,300-home Bolsa Chica project, despite a plea by the city to postpone action.
“The city of Huntington Beach is disappointed. . . . There are still significant (fiscal) issues outstanding,” Mayor Victor Leipzig said.
Councilman David Sullivan also called the commission’s action unacceptable, explaining that the city is concerned about the expense of providing services, including library and fire services, for the homes.
Both Leipzig and Sullivan said the city will turn to Supervisor Jim Silva, a former Huntington Beach councilman, to resolve its concerns about what the project will cost the city.
Lucy Dunn, senior vice president of Koll Real Estate Group, which plans to build the housing development, said the company is “delighted” with the commission’s decision.
