COSTA MESA : Panelists Needed for Newport Blvd. Study

Share

The city is looking to fill a committee that will study the future use of the east side of Newport Boulevard, between Mesa Drive and 19th Street.

The two-mile stretch of boulevard has caused city planners concern because too many businesses, particularly hotels and motels, are next to residences.

Reports of homeless people pushing shopping carts down the street are common, and Costa Mesa police say late night activity from tenants of some of the hotels and motels is another problem.

The committee will be made up of seven members who will conduct a six-month study. The city is looking for two property owners, two business owners, two area residents and an at-large member who will strike a balance between the residential and business community.

Individuals interested in serving on the committee are encouraged to submit a letter and resume to Joe Erickson, Mayor, City Hall, P.O. Box 1200 (77 Fairview Road), Costa Mesa, CA 92628-1200.

The deadline is March 31.
