THOUSAND OAKS : Probst Resigns From Arts Plaza Board

Share

The man who gave $2 million to the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks has declined to be a member of its governing board.

Charles Probst, the North Ranch businessman who shocked the community with his massive donation to the Civic Arts Plaza Foundation in October, resigned from its Board of Governors in February, members said.

Although he was appointed last year, he attended no board meetings and consequently wasn’t sworn in, Chairwoman Virginia Davis said.

Davis said she did not know why Probst decided against participating on the 15-member board, which makes decisions regarding the performing arts center that bears his name.

As for Probst’s $2-million gift, she said she does not believe it would be affected by his resignation.

“I don’t see any reason why it would,” she said.
