THOUSAND OAKS : Approval Sought for Artists’ Tour
Thousand Oaks residents may soon have an opportunity to peek into the studios, methods and work habits of local painters and sculptors.
The city’s Arts Commission will ask the City Council tonight for conceptual approval of a tour of artists’ studios.
Commission members said the public response to performing arts at the Civic Arts Plaza has been so positive they want to explore ways to enhance the popularity of the visual arts.
The one-day tour would be tentatively slated for next fall and include self-guided trips to 10 to 12 studios, with refreshments available at each site. There will be a charge to the public, but commission members have not decided how much tickets will cost.
Working with artists, the commission would arrange the route for the tour and print maps and programs for the event.
