James L. (Bud) Walton; Helped Found Wal-Mart

James L. (Bud) Walton, 73, who helped his late brother Sam found Wal-Mart Stores. Although his older brother was the leader in making the company the nation’s largest retailer, Bud Walton served as Wal-Mart’s senior vice president and director. Forbes magazine last October ranked Bud Walton as the 83rd-richest man in the country with $1 billion. Other Walton relatives were ranked among the top 15 richest people. A dedicated sports fan, Bud Walton donated $15 million to the University of Arkansas for a 20,000-seat basketball arena that is named for him. On March 21 in Miami of an aneurysm.
