Two robbers working with walkie-talkies held up a Santa Ana bank Tuesday morning, ordering employees to strip before the robbers fled, FBI officials said.

The robbery at the Bank of America in the 2000 block of South Main Street began about 8 a.m. when a man jumped out of a dumpster just after the bank manager had parked his car, said Special Agent John Hoos, an FBI spokesman.

The robber, brandishing a handgun, ordered the manager to open the door to the bank.

Two other employees entered the bank minutes later, Hoos said. The robber held the three employees as he radioed an accomplice, also armed, to enter the bank.

When the two men had taken an undisclosed amount from the bank, they ordered the employees to disrobe and then tied them up, Hoos said.

Hoos described the first robber as black, about 5-feet-6 and 160 pounds, of medium build, in his mid-30s with a thin mustache and possibly a one-inch scar under his right eye. He was wearing large sunglasses, light blue pants and a light blue short jacket.

The second robber was 6-feet-1 to 6-feet-2, also of medium build, wearing a dark, security-type outfit with badges and patches. His race was not immediately known, Hoos said.

Bank of America on Tuesday offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers.
