Kaiser-Hill Gets $3.5-Billion Contract: The Energy Department said it awarded the work to the venture of ICF Kaiser International Inc. for the cleanup of the Rocky Flats site in Colorado. The area is the site of a former nuclear weapons production facility. The government said in a statement that the contract is expected to save U.S. taxpayers $1.2 billion over five years. The company is to stabilize plutonium and plutonium residues by 1998, consolidate plutonium in a single building by 2000, and clean up and remove all high risk “hot-spot” contamination by 1998. The stock of Fairfax, Va.-based ICF Kaiser, which provides environmental services, was up 25 cents at $4.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.
