Obituaries : Carl A. Morton: Longtime Resident of Ojai
Carl A. Morton, a longtime Ojai resident and a former machinist for a county agency in Los Angeles, has died. He was 73.
Morton who lived in Ojai for 18 years, died at his home Monday after a long illness.
Raised in Compton, Morton joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to Japan during World War II.
After he was discharged from the Navy, he was hired by the Los Angeles County Road Department, where he worked for 30 years.
After his retirement in 1977, Morton spent his time gardening and fishing. During the past two years he volunteered for Food Share, a local food bank.
He is survived by his wife Rosie Morton, daughter Valerie Morton of Manhattan Beach, son Wayne Morton of San Diego, two grandchildren, a sister and a brother.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home, Ojai.
