Weekend TV : ‘Politics’ Premieres in New CNN Lineup

CNN shakes up its public affairs shows lineup this weekend when it moves several shows to new times and adds Sunday editions of “The Capital Gang” and “Crossfire.” The cable network today also premieres “Inside Politics Weekend.”

Politics is on the menu when Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) makes the rounds to talk about the Republicans’ “contract with America.” He’ll appear on “John McLaughlin’s One on One,” today at 2:30 p.m. on KCET-TV Channel 28; “Rising Tide,” today at 6 p.m. on WOR, and “Face the Nation,” Sunday at 9 a.m. on CBS Channel 2, 9:30 a.m. on Channel 8.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s “Meet the Press” finds Vice President Al Gore giving the Democrats’ response to the GOP’s efforts in Congress, Sunday at 7 a.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

In golf, CBS covers the Masters, today at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
