Four-Star Films : ‘The Ten Commandments’
This is the last classic Hollywood spectacle made by a silent-era pioneer with a deep Victorian sensibility. Cecil B. DeMille’s 1956 remake of his 1923 film is never less than stirring and is possessed of genuine grandeur. Charlton Heston’s Moses (left) is a great heroic portrayal that has withstood the test of time--and all the parting-the-Red Sea jokes. With Yul Brynner (right), Anne Baxter and Edward G. Robinson heading an all-star supporting cast. (ABC Sunday at 7 p.m.)
